Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that was originally designed to treat individuals suffering from suicidal behaviors, non-suicidal self-injury, and symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). DBT has since been adapted and validated in treating a range of problems, including depression and anxiety, and PTSD. DBT is designed to help individuals and families stabilize life-threatening, impulsive, and high-risk behaviors through distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and walking the middle path skills.
