Stress, Trauma, and Recovery Research Collaborative (STARRC)
The Stress, Trauma, and Recovery Research Collaborative (STARRC) is a research group devoted to increasing our understanding of how people cope with and recover from experiences of violence, abuse, and other traumatic events. We study emotional reactions that are common during and after traumatic events, as well as a variety of difficulties people may experience after trauma including: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Substance Abuse, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Depression, Thoughts of Suicide, Sexual and Relationship Problems, Chronic Pain, Insomnia, and Difficulties Managing Emotions. The overarching goal of STARRC is to apply the knowledge gained from our research in order to improve existing treatment and prevention programs and to develop new empirically-informed approaches designed to help improve the lives of people who have experienced trauma.
